Soil · Use case

What is happening below the surface, made visible.

ORTH reads soil and water analyses in minutes, converts them to one unit convention, ties them to the plot they came from, and counts the moisture already in the ground before you irrigate.

Most of what limits a harvest is in the soil. The evidence arrives as laboratory reports in different layouts and units, moisture readings at several depths, a water table, water chemistry, and what the block did last year.

Nobody puts them together; the team walks to whichever point one tool flagged. ORTH reads them all on the plot.

What ORTH does

Every analysis read for what it means on the plot.

Six things ORTH reads out of your soil and water data.

Every report read, whatever the layout

Soil, water and substrate analyses upload as the laboratory sends them. ORTH converts every value to one unit convention and flags a change of extractant, unit or laboratory between two reports before you compare them.

Texture, and what it means for water

Sand, silt and clay set how much water the ground holds and how fast it drains. ORTH turns your texture class into a holding capacity per plot, and the irrigation plan starts from it.

pH, EC and the salts

ORTH reads pH and salinity against your crop’s tolerance and names the consequence: which nutrients lock up at that pH, where sodium is breaking down structure, and what the leaching requirement is on your water.

Organic matter, CEC and the reserve

Cation exchange capacity and organic matter set how much the soil holds between applications. ORTH reads them to size the feeding programme: small, frequent doses on a light sandy block, fewer and larger on a heavy one.

Moisture at depth, water table, drainage

Readings at the depths you have them, the water table position and drainage behaviour are read together with the analysis. A block that stays wet at depth after irrigation shows up as a drainage problem before the damage shows in the canopy.

Season-over-season trends

Every analysis stays on the plot. pH drifting, salts building, organic matter falling: ORTH shows the trend across seasons and tells you which blocks to sample next, how deep, and when.

How it runs

Every analysis read and tied to the root zone.

ORTH reads and interprets every analysis. The laboratory measures. ORTH tells you when to send the next sample.

01

Upload the report

Upload soil, water and substrate analyses in whatever format the laboratory sends. ORTH converts them to one unit convention and flags a change of extractant or unit between two laboratories.

02

Ask what it means for this plot

ORTH reads texture, organic matter, pH, salinity and the mineral profile against the crop and variety on that block, in plain language, with the working shown: what saline soil means for a citrus orchard, what low organic matter means for a corn rotation.

03

Count the water the ground holds

ORTH takes moisture readings at the depths you have, surface and root zone, with the water table and the water’s chemistry, and starts the irrigation and fertigation plans from the water already in the ground.

04

Track the trend season over season

Every analysis stays on the plot. Season over season the trend is visible, and a block drifting the wrong way is caught before it costs a year.

05

Know when to test

ORTH interprets analyses. The laboratory still measures. ORTH tells you when a soil or tissue test is the next step and reads the result when it arrives.

What it is worth

Every soil source in one read.

Time saved on every report, unit errors caught before they reach the field, and every analysis acted on in the season it was taken.

Minutes

From the laboratory report landing to an interpreted reading on the plot, for every report, in every format the labs send.

Every analysis acted on

Every report becomes an interpreted reading and a next step on the plot, in the season it was taken. Reports stop sitting unread in a folder.

Every source, one plot

Laboratory analyses, moisture readings, the water table, water chemistry and the weather, read together on the plot. One reading to act on.

Example

The block that tests normal and still lags.

A citrus block returns a normal mineral profile and still lags the block beside it. ORTH lines up the two blocks’ analyses, moisture readings at depth and the water table, and finds the difference in the subsoil: salts building at the bottom of the root zone on the weaker block. It recommends the leaching schedule, sets the next sampling depth and date, and puts the check on the irrigation manager’s Actions.

Ask ORTH

What growers ask ORTH about soil.

Typed or spoken from the row, in your language. Answered from your plots, your weather, your analyses and your protocol, with the working shown.

“Here is the lab report for block 7. What does it mean for the blueberries?”
“pH is 8.1 on the new ground. What locks up, and what do I do about it?”
“The lab changed this year. Are these results comparable with last year’s?”
“How much water does this sandy loam hold in the top 60 cm?”
“EC at 60 cm is climbing. Is it the water or the fertiliser?”
“Which blocks do I sample this autumn, and how deep?”
